Saturday the nine-year-old belt came apart on the last hill into Four Corners. I pulled the fiber out of the outlet duct and drove it home. Then I put a new one in.

This ride wasn’t science. It was break-in. Tips in the right places so the card isn’t lying about which hose is which.

The Swap

Cover off. Old fluff still clinging to the inner housing lip. New belt on the Polaris primary and the TEAM secondary. Blue paint on the primary nut so I know I actually torqued it.

Logged the swap in wrenchtron as belt replacement. Same Google account utvtron signs into now, so the garage and the maintenance log are one machine again.

The Tips

ThermoPro in the cargo recess behind the seats. Three tips live before we rolled.. 88 / 89 / 87. Jack 4 empty. Names on the ride: Engine bay / Clutch / Ambient. Clutch tip in the outlet duct this time.. the hose that leaves the housing, not the intake I mislabeled back in August.

The Ride

Eighteen minutes. 7.4 miles. Eight impacts. Easy loop.. not River Road to Amsterdam, not 65 up Cottonwood. Clutch outlet peaked 130°. Bay 104°. Ambient 91°. Chart climbs, then sits. Last five minutes average ~127° on the clutch channel. Boring. Good.

utvtron share card: New belt ride, Clutch 130°F, 18 min, 7.4 mi

CSV: 671 rows. One hole at ~9 minutes.. about 99 seconds with no samples. The app dropped; I hit Resume. Session held together as one ride. Probe needed a reconnect after the kill. The card is still honest.

Saturday’s death march peaked 164° on that same outlet channel after a hard hill. Tonight was half an hour of not doing that. Different question.

What This Proves

The new belt will take a normal evening loop without cooking. Outlet air on a fresh belt looks like warm duct air, not a funeral. Tips match the plugs. The logger still isn’t a crystal ball.. and tonight it didn’t need to be.
