Fast Cash

broke as a joke

Broke as a joke? If you need some cash in a pinch, you have several options: ~ Hit a payday advance joint (and get nailed w/ a generous fee) ~ Write a bad check (overdraft fee != good) ~ Cash advance the ol’ credit card (and pay a ridiculous finance rate) ~ Knock off a convenience store (insert your own soap-on-a-rope joke here) Or alternatively, you could hit CashGo.com, and get some loot the easy way….the easy and confidential way. MyCashGo is pretty sweet. Everything is directly spelled out…no hidden fees, no need of perfect credit, no direct deposit…basically, they get you cash in a hurry. Plain and simple. Hit the above link to test it out…they give instant approval, so you could be up and rolling in no time. FWIW, they have 50% off for new customers, so you got that going, too. Which is nice. ***Of course, you could write paid blog posts (like this) for some loot. Trust me, it is far less lucrative than it seems :( ***Also of note, MyCashGo doesn’t require any faxing of info. I propose all fax machine use be discontinued, in general. So 1992. :(

Green Robots Everywhere

Green-Robot #4 Hastily drawn.

Super Computer Setup

MAXXIMUM AWESOME! **DISCLAIMER** ^ Windows XP is not awesome, and the Mini 9 is neither networked, nor running anything aside from my media player.

Green Robots Attack

Green robots are the best robots. Like this gem I drew for Katie… I had to wipe out the technical specs from that document via a slick combination of MS Paint rectangle selects, MS Paint deletes, MS Paint bucket things, and MS Paint spray paint things. Pretty awesome. I think I’m speaking for everybody when I say that I hope that my green robot phase last for a long, long time. Beats drawing hot snauce bottles, nawmeen…

Van Diagram

I don’t like vans, because they look like toasters. I don’t like toasters, because they make bread sharp and stale. I don’t like Nissan Elements, because they look like toasters. I don’t like Venn diagrams, just because. I like that shirt, though.

PS3 Move | PiiMote?

Sony has finally made a solid attempt to bridge the gap between the BluRay/Media Center/FPS beast that is the PS3 and the Wii’s uber-user-friendly-out-of-the-box gaming experience. Introducing the PlayStation Move —> looks a lot like… From CNET:

San Francisco, California (CNET) – On Wednesday, Sony unveiled Move, its motion-sensitive controller. A small device that looks like a microphone – but with something on top of it that looks like a ping pong ball with an LED inside – Move is Sony’s bid to gain control over the motion controller wars that are currently led by Nintendo, with its Wii controller, and which many think will be dominated by Microsoft and its Project Natal controller system.

Among the types of games Move will work with include those that involve swords, bows and arrows, guns, punching and much more. The idea is that Move will provide players with a realistic and precise feeling of holding whatever kind of thing the game calls for, be it a sword or a gun.

Further, the controller comes with its own accessory, known as a sub-controller, which will accentuate what’s possible with Move. And later this year, the forthcoming game SOCOM 4 will incorporate both Move and the sub-controller

Another Green Robot

I’m digging the green robots…might be my new thing. +1 Robot’s chest plate resembles a NES controller

Coffee + Car = Car-puccino

Hats off to the BBC, for airing an actual show about science. In the States, we have Mythbusters, wherein two odd-looking dipshits half-assedly postulate hypotheses and perform experiments, with no certainty or control to speak of. Across the colloquial pond and at the other end of the spectrum, Bang Goes the Theory is performing some actual applied engineering…and it is pretty awesome. Some details, from this hippy-ish site:

A team from the BBC1 science programme Bang Goes the Theory has unveiled a car that runs on coffee. Christened as Car-puccino, the car is actually a modified version of a £400, 1988 Volkswagen Scirocco. Well, the visible area of concern, for millions like me, is the running cost of the vehicle that has been estimated at between 25 and 50 times the cost of running a car on petrol.

The goal is to make the 200 mile trip between Manchester and London fueled by coffee. Since coffee has burn-able carbon, it can be used as a power source…albeit pretty low in the efficiency ranks. The car is supposed to be able to hit 60 MPH, but with the refilling and changing of filters, the trip is slated to take ten hours. Bonus points for the design team, for making the Scirocco look like Luke Skywalker’s fighter w/ R2-D2 on the back. ***Note to the DIY fans. Car-puccino can be put together with hatchback, rain gutter down spout, and shop-vac. And brown spray paint, provided your mom’s gutters are differently colored.

Video Calls per Chinese Person

One of the running jokes on the slashdot.org boards is an oldie but a goody. Apparently, nerds like to poke fun of mainstream media’s tendency to dumb-up storage sizes into terms of “Libraries of Congress.” Well, I’m taking a stab at a unit of my own…Video Calls per Chinese PersonFrom the original on /.

““Today Cisco Systems introduced its next-generation Internet core router, the CRS-3, with about three times the capacity of its current platform. ‘The Internet will scale faster than any of us anticipate,’ Cisco’s John Chambers said while announcing the product. At full scale, the CRS-3 has a capacity of 322Tbit/sec., roughly three times that of the CRS-1, introduced in 2004. It also has more than 12 times the capacity of its nearest competitor, Chambers said. The CRS-3 will help the Internet evolve from a messaging to an entertainment and media platform, with video emerging as the ‘killer app,’ Chambers said. Using a CRS-3, every person in China, which has a population just over 1.3 billion, could participate in a video phone call at the same time. (Or you could pump nearly one Library of Congress per second through the device, or give everyone in San Fransisco a 1Gbps internet connection.) AT&T said it has been using the CRS-3 to test 100Gbit/sec. data links in tests on a commercial fiber route in Florida and Louisiana.”

Which spawned this wise-crack… To which I countered… +5 Funny…so it begins Let the memes begin!
